With jewellery I found a new and exciting outlet to my creativity. Working with bronze, silver and semi precious stones, I seek to interpret the essence of nature in my designs; and remind people of its beauty in an increasingly over developed world. Because the further we get from nature the poorer we are for it.

'There is new life in the soil for every man, [or woman],. There is healing in the trees for tired minds and for our overburdened spirits, there is strength in the hills, if only we will lift up our eyes. Remember that nature is your great restorer'.

CALVIN COOLIDGE.

Sculpture is very important to me and I will always consider this the one thing I must give everything to.  I find the medium more intuitive than drawing.  For ten years I had been a Freelance Children's Book illustrator. I developed an unusual style which involved the creation of clay models and photographing them. Even in an industry devoted to the two-dimensional medium I found a way of satisfying my need to produce sculpture.

Jewellery allows me the freedom to create sculptural pieces in almost any material.

I live in a beautiful part of the world. The far South West of Cornwall has special places which have escaped the ravages of modern man. The ancient people who populated this land lived in harmony with it, and the Celts in particular gave special reverence to the trees. They used them for food, medicines, housing, magical rites and in return treated them with respect.  It's this relationship between people, trees and nature in general that I wish to reference in my work.
